Cycling past the sights of Yogyakarta

Day 1: Semarang - Magelang

(Depending on pick up time) From Semarang we drive you via Gedung Songo and Borobudur to your hotel close to Borobudur. In the evening you meet your local guide at your hotel and you discuss the itinerary for the next days.

Day 2: Magelang - North Yogyakarta

Early morning you're off to Yogyakarta. The car will drive you out of the city buzzle but then you get on the bikes and bike over small roads along the river that shows you great old Dutch irrigation systems that are still being used to water the fields. It is a great ride through some amazing landscapes of cental Java. Late afternoon we arrive at your hotel in North Yogyakarta. Rest of the day is free to fo leisure.

Day 3: (North) Yogyakarta - (Central) Yogyakarta

Early morning you head of to Merapi. From a look out point you have great views on Merapi (if the weather allows it). You can see the great gap the last eruption has caused. After a short break we're off to the Prambanan area again nice scenic route past small villages. At Prambanan you can have a guided tour (additonal ownexpense). After Prambanan the car drives you to the hotel in Yogyakarta.

Day 4: (Central) Yogyakarta

After a relaxed breakfast you again get on the bike and we take you on a city tour. We first go tot he Keraton Palace (you can have a guided tour if desired) then through the keraton to Taman Sari; formely the sultans bat house. A guided tour is absolutely worthwhile do visit the underground mosque but be aware of sales tricks. We bike further through the keraton ans make some stops. At the keraton we find a nice spot to lunch. After lunch you can discuss with your guide if you like to bike further or if you like to go by car and visit something alse or perhaps back to the accommodation.

Day 5: Yogyakarta - Next Destination

Also today you may decide youself if you'd like to bike or take the car. By bike we take you to the beaches of Parangtritis and Depok. From your home stay you bike through the quite area's of Bantul. We stop at a local market and at sevaral home industries. It's a scenic but long drive, we stop for a (picnic) snack and coffee/tea then proceed to Depok for a fresh fish bbq lunch. You can walk over the beach to Parangtritis (approx. 45. min.) at Parangtritis finish the day with a kelapa muda at sunset. The car will dropp you off at the airport for your flight to your next destination.
